2 Timothy 2:1-13

(2 Timothy 2:1-13)

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also..

The apostle Paul refers to Timothy again, calling him my son. In 1:2, unlike To Timothy, my beloved son, in the expression My son, he makes Timothy feel more friendly and affectionate with the apostles heart. Timothy is a physical son born of the Apostle Paul by blood. this is not He is the son of faith that the apostle gave birth to through the gospel during the apostle's second missionary journey. The apostle said this fact in 1 Timothy 1:2, Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith.

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

What the apostle Paul told Timothy to teach was to suffer with the apostle. And he cites three types of people to remind Timothy what kind of mindset, attitude, and attitude the missionary of the Lord should have. There are hardships in the Christian life. The difference between the sufferings of Christians and others is the suffering they take on their own for the sake of the gospel. For Christians, suffering for the gospel is not for rewards or rewards, but because of the great grace they have received from God, it is a suffering of thanksgiving. However, today, false teachings are corrupting the glory of the gospel. The sufferings of Christians are eternal rest in God.

Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

The Word of God is not helplessly bound or imprisoned. The Word has the power to live and work. It must be done according to the word. God sustains the saints with the word, acts according to the word, and walks with the saints in the word. Conclusion God does not leave his followers alone, but overcomes suffering for the sake of the gospel with his word.
